We’re full into silly season. So perhaps it is worth reading how a Cretaceous coastline shaped American history 100 millions years later. Who would have thought that voting patterns in the south would follow the line of an ancient shore?

    Fascinating. I grew up in Alabama and had no idea “black belt” referred to anything related to geography.
