Foulies in April?

April 22, 2021

Not having raced in a while and with a pretty good breeze, the captain decided to race working sails last night. It was a triangular course, two beats and a run. A front had blown in that morning, so despite being late April, temperature was in the mid-60s. Which is shirt sleeves on the shore, but can seem cold in the wind on the water. Everyone except the three young guys wore some foulies. Working bow, every wave we took made me glad for mine. My bibs, now in their third decade, no longer are as water proof as once they were. We had a clean bottom and a good start, and were first out of the gap, and first back in. I don’t know why, walking back home, I decided to snap a pelican that had found its roost for the night.

I long have practiced social distancing with larger wildlife. But who knew you could reason with bears?
