Sea creatures

May 13, 2020

In our visit to Padre Island sea shore a week ago, we did not see any of the blue dragons that others are reporting. Plenty of man-o-wars and the usual assortment of shore birds. Including the black tern shown right.

I am tickled by the notion that the pandemic has increased bird watching. People worry about going to parks, because there always are some other people there. My own suspicion, echoed by some others, is that enclosed spaces are quite a bit more risky than the outdoors. The relevant thought experiment is this: imagine being in the produce section of a grocery with someone heavily perfumed, vis-a-vis passing each other in the park. I will admit bias: I would go crazy if I couldn’t walk outside every day.
