Tomatillos, 52 million years past

The nightshade family provides many of our vegetables, from eggplants and New World peppers to tomatillos. Scientists discovered a fossil of the papery cover of something like this latter, embedded in Patagonian rock, 52 million years past. Alas, no one was around then to make salsa verde.
