Russian novelists be damned

January 2, 2017

I suspect many an undergraduate in the midst of reading them comes to view Russian novelists as an eerily warped curse on mankind, proof of a devil if not a god. So it should come as little surprise that one of the earlier examples, Chernyshevsky, arguably is responsible for both the Russian revolution and the 2008 financial crisis. And if that wasn’t enough harm to wreak on the world, he might have been a goad to Dostoevsky writing his own novels.
