Will the real AI please stand up?
Back in the early 80s, when Austin still had its weird, Bobby Ray Inman put together a consortium of computing and AI research in north Austin. A decade later, it seemed just about every other nerd in town had seen a stint at MCC. Most of those projects are long dead, fodder on stale CDs or older media. Doug Lenat no doubt has sold that original Porsche. But Cyc… still lives. And after three decades, may even start to show commercial value. Time will tell. I wonder how many man-centuries of semantic analysis have gone into it?
