Two cheers for the National Butterfly Center

October 28, 2015

MonarchsTwoTexas Monthly describes the efforts in Mission, Texas, to attract lepidopterists from around the world, and how the National Butterfly Center there is at risk from border politics. Trump’s wall would cut most of it off. The Center is well worth a visit. It acts as a nursery for a variety of south Texas native plants that commercial nurseries don’t carry. (The Monarchs and Gregg’s mist flower shown left could be from the National Butterfly Center. They have plenty of both. But I snapped that photo in our yard.)
