The walking dead
A National Review editorial finds where the modern right makes sense. It is the world of The Walking Dead, after a plague kills most of humanity and turns them into zombies:
Zombie fiction may be the most conservative fiction of all, drawing its dramatic energy from three principles every good Republican should understand: The government is incompetent and prone to collapse under pressure; the person who survives is the person who either knows how to shoot or learns quickly; and even when cities are overrun with undead, a living man is still the most dangerous animal of all.
Which goes a way to explaining the preppers.
