Magnetosensitive neurons

bulkheadcompassNeuroscientists at the University of Texas have discovered specific neurons in the nematode C. elegans that are sensitive to a magnetic field, and whose loss prevents the nematodes from orienting themselves. PDF here.

Now, if only sailors were born with that.
