Pacific trade

The Economist summarizes the standard case for the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Andrew Tobias approves. In the last paragraph of this interview, Joseph Stiglitz does not. Elizabeth Warren complains that its secrecy hampers the debate. Which indeed makes it hard for those of us outside Congress to have an opinion. And more views here.

Obama ran as and governed as a pro-business, pro-trade Democrat. Only those who have tried to paint him as a Marxist will be surprised if this trade agreement becomes one of his signature achievements.
