Immune system is strongly path dependent

Immunologists at Stanford, studying monozygotic twins, found large immunological differences, noting that even a single infection can make a permanent change in the individual’s immune system:

For nearly 60 percent of all the features Davis’ group measured, cytomegalovirus’ presence in one twin and absence in another made a big difference.
