The head, the hat, and Hot Flanks

September 24, 2014

A team of anthropologists at Duke published a study linking the rise of behavioral modernity 50,000 years ago with a change in the shape of the head, and in particular, its feminization. Fascinating data, even if the narrative still is quite speculative.

The nonsense inscriptions on some ancient Greek vases turn out to be the names of Amazon warriors. Though I think “Hot Flanks” had to be a nickname.

Archaeologists hate Indiana Jones.
