Drink, longevity, and yoga

August 21, 2013

RemembranceA closer look at the statistics on drinking and mortality don’t find much basis for thinking a little drink is good. The increased mortality risk for non-drinkers seems to congregate on ex-drinkers. When those are excluded, the U-shaped curve is closer to monotonic.

If you’re short and you drink, you should be a sailor. Like Bogart, left. And you might live a bit longer than if you’re tall and you drink. No word on those who do yoga and drink.

I don’t put much stock in the recent research on the benefits of nostalgia. Though it goes well with wine.
